Chocolate is said to be an aphrodisiac, a stimulant and an anti-depressant.
It also brings health benefits,...

But many people know that some cocoa plantations are currently under threat ?.
That the very first chocolate houses were poened in Paris under yhe reign og Lois XIV, the Sun
King? Or how to make praline ?

The answer to all these questions and many more are to be found in the new 350-sq. metre centre dedicated to the history of chocolate and its many uses.

A film takes you on a journey to the cocoa plantations on Sao Tomé,

while through the windows of the laboratory, you can watch the famous "drakkars" chocolates being made righ in front of your very eyes.

      

Amateur collectors will be entranced by the elegant chocolte pots, some of which date from the XVIIth century, as well as by the sculptures carved by African planters.

The "Poulain" picture books are guaranteed to stir nostalgia in anyone over thirty, while the chocolate recipes will send foodies into raptures.

In the children"section, younger visitors can test their sense of smelle as they try to identify the flavours most commenly added to cocoa.

And of course no visit to a chocolate maker's would be complete without a tasting session !.
